A premature spring reduced the daffodils at Congresbury Gardening Club’s Spring Show, but the Old School Rooms was full of the perfume of narcissi and other spring flowers, with tulips galore. Warm dry weather had not affected some gardeners’ rhubarb, with four superb entries on the bench, and Dave Miles taking the prize.
After his expert advice in the local gardening column, John Chaplin rightly came top in the orchid class, and the narcissus experts were Ann Gunner and Helen Riddell, who won the Frank Calcraft trophy for the most points.
